Tuscany next door

The Tuscan border is minutes away: Carrara's marble quarries, Versilia's coastline and the hills of Lunigiana are all an easy drive from the house.

Pietrasanta and Lucca are amongst our favourites, for their atmosphere and the views. Pietrasanta for the marble, the galleries and the afternoon crowd in the square; Lucca for its walls, which you can walk the whole way around. Each one is a good excuse to leave the house in the morning and come home late.
